Your Echo uses the skill only when its language is one of these locales and that locale was deployed (see locales). The invocation name can be changed on the Alexa skill page in the web interface.

Open the skill and then speak commands (“Alexa, open encore”, then “play the movie Dune”), or say it in one go: “Alexa, ask encore to play the movie Dune”, “Alexa, tell encore to turn the volume up”.

How to read the patterns

Each line is a pattern that stands for many sample sentences:

• (a|b): say one of the alternatives.
• [a|b]: optionally say one of them.
• {Slot}: a value, such as a title, a number or a room. Slots are listed under each command, and the words custom slots accept are listed under slot values.

Patterns only add the Kodi-specific phrasings: Alexa’s built-in intents already understand the common ways of saying “pause”, “stop”, “next” and so on.
